The Long Beach Golf Festival concluded in early August, but the spirit of the event carried on. Tournament Director Art Chaparro turned the spotlight toward those who make the annual festival possible: the volunteers.
On Wednesday evening, Chaparro welcomed community members, festival supporters, and representatives from Eldorado Park Golf Course to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. It was an evening filled with gratitude, camaraderie, and the promise of new beginnings for local golf coverage.
This year’s dinner carried special significance as it marked the official launch of Long Beach Golf News (LBGN).
LBGN is a new media platform dedicated to covering the city’s vibrant golf community. The unveiling of the site was met with enthusiasm as attendees praised:
Its fresh design and user experience.
Its commitment to timely and relevant local coverage.
Its potential to elevate the profile of Long Beach golf.
Acknowledging Dedication
Art Chaparro, a steadfast advocate for the volunteers who fuel the Festival’s success, used the evening to share his deep gratitude. He offered special recognition to the food and beverage teams across all participating courses.
He gave particular praise to the Eldorado Park staff, whose thoughtful preparation and gracious hospitality made the dinner both memorable and welcoming.
The evening also featured a milestone moment with the official introduction of the new platform. Founder Clint Wood addressed the audience, outlining the vision and mission of LBGN:
The purpose of Long Beach Golf News is to celebrate the people, stories, and traditions that make Long Beach golf unique.
Wood emphasized that the dedication of the Festival’s ambassadors and volunteers helped inspire and shape the creation of LBGN. Their passion for the game and the community is the driving force behind the platform.
With the launch of the site and a renewed sense of community spirit, the 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner underscored the enduring legacy of the Long Beach Golf Festival and highlighted the bright future ahead for local golf coverage.
